What are Quantum Computers? The fundamental difference has to do with the way information is stored. A classical bit is a deterministic store of information. Every time you check its value, it is the same. A Quantum Bit or a Qubit can exist in a superposition of 0 and 1 states. When you check its value, it can result in 0 or 1 but the probabilities are known in advance
